South Tampa's Most Walkable Neighborhoods

by Shane Vanderson

Most of South Tampa is walkable, but some neighborhoods are more pedestrian friendly than others.

Hyde Park

It is called the "golden triangle" for a reason, and part of that is because of the walkability. Sidewalks can easily take you to Bayshore Boulevard and through all those high-end shops and restaurants at Hyde Park Village. An added perk is enjoying all those historical colonial and bungalow-style homes.

Harbour Island

The sidewalks of this planned community just south of Downtown Tampa can take you along the waterfront, envisioning yourself taking out one of those docked boats for the day. Stroll along the Riverwalk and enjoy people-watching from Sparkman's Wharf to Armature Works and everything in between.

Davis Islands

With about 1.3 miles of paved 10-foot wide trail that runs along Peter O'Knight airport, the waterfront, up to the Yacht Basin, this neighborhood is sure not to disappoint. You might even spot one of Tampa's celebrities along the way. At the very least, you will see a lot of dogs and some of Tampa's most incredible properties.

Bayshore Beautiful

As the name suggests, this neighborhood is beautiful! It has large oak tree-lined streets and a mix of modern and historical architecture. Its close proximity to Bayshore Boulevard gives you the option to head north toward Hyde Park or South toward Ballast Point Pier.

Parkland Estates / New Suburb Beautiful

Parks, oak tree-lined streets, large lots, and estate homes are some of the things you will experience walking around these two central South Tampa neighborhoods. You are also within walking distance of all the eateries and entertainment options on South Howard Ave (SoHo).
